This policy explains what personal information RoomDrop® collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

RoomDrop® rents portable studio cabins across Christchurch and wider Canterbury.

2. What personal information we collect
When you submit an enquiry through our website, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number (optional)
- Your suburb or delivery area
- Your intended use for the cabin
- Any message you choose to write
- Whether you opted in to marketing emails, and if so the date and time, the page you submitted from, and the wording of the consent you agreed to
We may also collect technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and the site that referred you. This may be collected using cookies and similar tracking technologies.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you when you submit the enquiry form, email us, or text or call us.
- Automatically through cookies and any analytics or advertising scripts running on the site while you browse.
4. Why we collect it and how we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- To arrange delivery, installation and rental agreements.
- To send marketing communications, but only where you have separately opted in.
- To improve the website and measure how our advertising performs.
- To meet our legal, tax and business record-keeping obligations.
Providing your information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or arrange a cabin for you.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed to run our business. Our current providers are:
- Google (Google Sheets and Gmail) — enquiry storage and email delivery, United States.
- Lovable — website hosting and application infrastructure, United States and European Union.
- Delivery and installation contractors — New Zealand, where your details are needed to deliver, level or collect a cabin.
We may also disclose information where we are required or permitted to do so by law. We do not sell personal information.
6. Overseas disclosure
Several of the providers above are located outside New Zealand, primarily in the United States. Before disclosing personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the recipient is subject to privacy safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, as required by Information Privacy Principle 12.
7. Cookies
Our site may set cookies that keep the site working correctly, remember your preferences, and help us understand how the site is used and how people find us. Cookies do not identify you by name.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
8. How long we keep it
- Enquiry and rental records: kept for 7 years, to meet tax and business record-keeping requirements.
- Marketing contacts: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
9. How we keep it safe
We use reputable third-party platforms, restrict access to the people who need it to do their job, and use accounts protected by strong authentication. Information submitted through our website is encrypted in transit. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
10. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request that we correct it.

11. Marketing and unsubscribing
We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we action unsubscribe requests promptly. You can also email us at any time to be removed.
